Demonstration of Building Information Modeling (BIM) Information Exchange Registration
The buildingSMART alliance and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is co-hosting a demonstration of Building Information Modeling (BIM) Information Exchange from July 23-25, 2008, National Academy of Sciences, Main Auditorium, 2101 Constitution Avenue, NW, Washington, D.C. At this meeting, software vendors will demonstrate their ability to meet generic BIM specifications for space planning, design coordination, and construction handover. We invite appropriate committee members from your organization to observe this demonstration and, following the meeting, comment on the performance-based BIM specifications that will be distributed during the meeting. We will also be evaluating the demonstration business process and its results to identify lessons learned to build continuous improvement into the demonstration process for future projects.
Several federal agencies are currently developing vendor-neutral, performance-based BIM specifications because of their need for non-proprietary specifications. buildingSMART alliance members are developing the procedures to allow these exchange specifications to be considered for inclusion in the National Building Information Model Standard (NBIMS).
If your organization would like to attend the meeting, and participate in the review of these future NBIMS specifications and administrative business processes, please identify a point of contact on the form below who will coordinate with the buildingSMART alliance. As more details of the meeting develop and opportunities to receive copies of the draft specifications are forthcoming, we will provide this information directly to the designated point of contact.
