buildingSMART alliance Resources
The buildingSMART alliance™ exists to connect the segments of our industry to help everyone understand how the information they collect to do their job might be usable by others. The buildingSMART alliance offers many approaches to link our industry together. The first is a listing of all the associations that have an interest in shared information using open standards and collaborative business processes. The second is a grass roots approach to get people together in the various communities where they work to learn from each other.
Periodicals—Several periodicals are available worldwide from buildingSMART organizations, including our own Journal of Building Information Modeling (JBIM). This link will provide you access to those in PDF. Please let us know of any others that you think should be included.
buildingSMART alliance Associations—These organizations have indicated a desire to coordinate their efforts with the Alliance and have provided a pint of contact to help support that effort. We offer the opportunity for an organization to list itself along with a point of contact and a brief synopsis of how they relate to the vision and mission of the buildingSMART alliance. This will give all people attempting to coordinate project outcomes the ability to contact the appropriate people throughout the industry.
buildingSMART alliance Interest Groups—These are local grass roots organizations with the intent to allow practitioners and stakeholders throughout the facility industry a chance to connect with each other. They typically meet once a month for breakfast in a local restaurant. Check out the list to see if there is one in your community and participate. You can also set one up by following the attached guidelines and letting us know who you are and where you are from.
buildingSMART alliance Related Groups—There are several associated groups that have educational opportunities or information of interest to the buildingSMART alliance members. While these groups are not monitored or endorsed by the Alliance, they may contain content that is of interest to the Alliance members. In the interest of being the clearinghouse for information about BIM we provide you these links.
buildingSMART alliance Speakers Bureau—The buildingSMART alliance maintains a list of speakers who understand the goals of the Alliance and have indicated a desire to help get the word out to the over 10 million people involved in the facilities industry. If you need a speaker please consult this list and identify speakers either in your area or who have indicated a willingness to travel to your area.
